attempted auto theft lookout

On March 24th at about 1600 hours, a resident observed a teenage black male attempting to steal a vehicle in the 3100 blk of Laurel Ave. The attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect was spotted walking in the 2800 blk of 64th Ave. When the suspect saw the police car at the top of the hill, he fled through the rear yards and was able to evade officers before the area could be blocked off.

The Suspect is described as:
Black, Male, mid to late teens, wearing black jeans, white tee and a gray jacket.

His jacket and tools were recovered in the rear of a home on 63rd Pl.

As always, if you observe someone tampering with a property or vehicle call 9-1-1.

B&E lookout

On March 24th at about 1000 hours in the 6600 blk of Oak St, 2 subjects broke into a single family home and were scared off when a resident came down stairs to investigate the noise. One suspect had broken a basement window and went to the first floor to let the other suspect in. When confronted, the suspects left the house with the victim’s laptop and walk to a waiting vehicle driven by a third suspect.

The suspects are described as:
#1 – Black, Male, mid 20’s, wearing a black jumpsuit, hoody and a ski mask.
#2 – Black, Male, mid 20’s with heavy facial hair.
#3 – (Driver) Black, Male (no other information)

The vehicle was a Nissan Altima maroon in color with an unknown MD tag.

Residents should take note of vehicles that seem out of place and call if
they appear to be sitting for unusual amount of time.

attempted abduction

Be on the lookout for an attempted abduction suspect in the area of Gladys Noon Spellman and other schools located in town.

The suspect is a white male approx 30 yrs old 5'10" to 6'0" medium build with brown hair and light facial hair. He was seen driving a red older model pickup truck with no cap.

The incident occurred on Friday 16, around 1330 (1:30PM). A juvenile male was walking home from Spellman Elm. along Kilmer St when the suspect, described above, drove up in the listed vehicle and asked the child to, "Come here." The child said no, ran around the corner of Kilmer and Laurel, and hid in a back yard. The suspect backed down Kilmer and drove off down Laurel.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Det. Earl Stone at 301.341.1055, and as always, call 911 if you see the suspect or vehicle in the area.

suspect in assault

The Cheverly Police Department would like citizens' help in locating the following suspect in the assault of a 10-year old girl.

Black male

Approx. 25 years old

5'8" 140-150 lbs.

Shaved head

Wearing: white shirt, blue jeans, black gloves
While walking home from elementary school, the young girl was assaulted by the suspect near the intersection of Kilmer and Belleview Streets. He said something to the effect of, "Hold on, girl. Where are you going?" while grabbing her wrist. The girl screamed, pulled away from the suspect, and ran to her nearby home. She was not injured in the assault.

It would be best to get this man into custody as quickly as possible. Please call 301-341-1055 with any information.

Mr. Harris was located in DC and has been returned to his home.
