task force produces promising statistics

safety and security graph (not crime!)
We had 15 citizen attendees at last night's C-PACT meeting plus the Chief, Lieutenant Frolich, Detective Gizinski, and CEO O'Berry. The Chief welcomed everyone, put in a plug for this here website (thank you, sir), and then we got into the meat of the agenda.

Detective Gizinski gave a report on the Task Force's first week (5/28 to 6/6). By the numbers, it's been an unqualified success:

Action Number
Field Observation Reports 39
Adult Arrest 27
Juvenile Arrest 3
Warrant Services 4
DUI Arrest 1
Juvenile Reports
12
Vehicle Impounds
2
Maryland State Citations
43
Written Warnings
8
Equipment Repair Orders
10
Parking Citations
3
Recovered Property Reports
1

Just to be clear about some terminology, Field Observation Reports/Juvenile Reports are filled out with someone's name, address, physical description, and the reason they came into contact with the police. Usually a Polaroid photograph of the person is taken when an officer fills out an FOR.

Maryland State Citations are usually for moving violations, e.g., speeding, operating a vehicle with an expired registration or license, etc.

Equipment Repair Orders are issued when a vehicle is stopped for a mechanical problem like an inoperable headlight, turn signal, license plate bulb, etc.

We hope the rest of the categories are self-explanatory, but send us a query on the "Contact" page if not.

Obviously the CPD has been very active in the apartments over the last week. The plan is to keep the task force operating through the summer months, thereby heading off the annual spike in crime when school is out and the temperature--and tempers--can flare.

More minutes from the meeting to follow...
